About the Thompson Okanagan Community Well-Being Project

The Thompson Okanagan Community Well-Being Survey is led by the Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association (TOTA) on behalf of the British Columbia Regional Tourism Secretariat BCRTS, in collaboration with Planet Happiness, with the following goals:

1) Understanding of the impact of tourism on the well-being of residents & communities in World Heritage sites & strengthening the relationship between tourism & residents to improve quality of life of local communities.

2) Raising global awareness & participation in the Gross National Happiness (GNH) & “Beyond GDP” agenda.

3) Contribute to the Tourism Impact Portal.

With a province full of endless activities outdoors and in, we want to know what brings residents the most satisfaction. The Community Well-being Survey will spark conversations about tourism and destination well-being and how these two items can go hand in hand.

No matter the state of a resident’s well-being we want to hear from them to be able to inform strategies for improving the well-being in the province and individual regions. We ask that you share the survey with your community and staff through your business’s various networks and media channels to encourage their participation.

About the Survey

The Community Well-being Survey is a state-of-the-art, scientifically valid survey tool created by the Happiness Alliance that is based on Bhutan's pioneering approach to measure Gross National Happiness. Once the data is analyzed it will produce a one-page destination score-card and in-depth data-rich reports that spark conversations about tourism and destination well-being and how this relationship can be strengthened.

The surveys are composed of questions relating to lifestyle, work, home-life, finances, and tourism. All surveys are completely private and GDPR Data compliant.
